What are the most popular business social networking sites?

It depends on what you mean by social networking in the business context: networking for jobs or for customers/clients.

The first business networking service (and arguably the first social networking service) was Ryze which was started in 2001 and has not grown substantially since.

The most popular social networking application for business is LinkedIn by far, which picked up where Ryze left off. It currently has over 9M members and is a popular place to look for jobs or make business contacts. They make money by charging employers fees to talk to people in the system. It has also recently launched a similar application to Yahoo! Answers.

Ecademy and XING (formerly OpenBC) are both lesser known business Networking sites that have a somewhat more niche audience

If you're looking to manage your customers, Salesforce.com is the industry leader in this space. They provide a number of services for people within an organization/corporation to share client information.
