What are your thoughts on social networking sites?
I think that it is sad that teenagers are not encouraged to be with actual visible friends and that it seems easier for them to talk to strangers than it is their parents or actual friends. Parents need to be just that ...PARENTS! Get them out from in front of the computers and out in the world. I understand that rewarding them with computer time is a perk but don't let them sit in front of it all the free time that they have.
Reply:Well I'm led to believe that people put up their picture to be told they're "gorgeous" and "perfect" and "beautiful" - so in few words my thoughts are that they're the haven of self-obsessed teenagers who want approval from everyone.
No thanks, I'll stick with my own blog.
Reply:They are a great way to keep in touch with your friends, if you join to "have the most friends" or be the most popular, a lot of people don't care. I use: Myspace, Vox, Livejournal, and Facebook. I have all of them because some of my friends don't like myspace, the others don't like facebook, vox i only joined because it's part of livejournal, and i've had livejournal since it's inception year.... all of my blogs are linked so I don't update them all separately. They are all perfectly fine to keep in touch with, especially if you or your friends have moved. A lot of people say that you should interact face to face but as a young kid it's not convenient when you can't drive yourself around and when you can, sometimes you're too busy especially when school starts. Think of these places as glorified e-mail accounts that you can personalize and others can keep up with what's going on with you.
Don't use these sites to meet people because that always turns out badly. All of my stuff is private, friends, and by request only. I like it that way.
Have fun, be a kid! even if you're not!!!
Reply:they are good communication between friends but very bad if the right safty measures aren't takein
Reply:I prefer Facebook.
