Why don't they allow you to publish your email address on social networking sites?
Well for security/safety reasons to protect people. Also a lot of these sites want you to use their website more and more so by letting you post your personal email account they could potentially lose a member since there would be no need to communicate through the social networking site anymore now that you and the other person have eachothers email addresses.

Reply:Mostly to make you go through their service to get introduced. If you publish email, people can contact you directly and there is no need for an intermediary.
And... they can always say its for "safety" reasons.
